Brett Helquist says that he was born in Ganado, Arizona, grew up in Orem, Utah, and now lives in New York City. He purportedly earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Brigham Young University and has been illustrating ever since. In order to depict the tragic lives of the Baudelaire orphans, he uses broken pencils, dried up paint, and boxes and boxes of tissues.

Brett Helquist is also the author of other books, including Roger, the Jolly Pirate. You can keep up to date with news of all his books by signing up for AuthorTracker below.
